Activity

Cémoi is a French chocolate manufacturer founded in 1814. The company is behind products such as Ourson Guimauve and Gaufrettes Quadro, which are well-known in France.

The project at a glance

Cémoi turned to Hardis Group to help it improve its aging ERP system, which was poorly suited to managing the company’s multiple repositories (supplier, customer, and product data). The complexity of the system was leading to an explosion in reference data volumes (duplicates, redundant entries, etc.), which was directly impacting data quality (obsolescence, inaccuracy, inconsistency, etc.), as well as the reliability of operational processes and reports.

Since Cémoi wanted to keep its existing ERP system in the short-to-medium term, the project focused on drawing up a roadmap and a target architecture to guide the process of implementing a data repository and improving the ERP system.

IT transformation is strategic priority, since our focus is on future-proofing our business. With time, we’ll need to move toward a common system enabling us all to speak the same language and supporting easier collaboration within the Sweet Product group.

Faustine GLACET, IT Project Manager

Project objectives

The project aimed to answer two questions:

  • How can reference data be extracted from such a closed system in order to lay the ground for a future repository (and how could this be kept up-to-date with clean data)?
  • How could this new repository serve the ERP system?

Work performed

Cémoi’s ERP system improvement project unfolded in four phases:

  1. Reviewed the current functional model for the ERP system and its reference data (products, customers, and suppliers).
  2. Identified and analyzed recurring problems with the current ERP system, and their operational implications.
  3. Devised a target architecture that aligned with the company’s objectives.
  4. Prepared the model for the third-party data repository.

Benefits

This process led to the production of a framework target architecture that addresses the repository and data-quality challenges.
