Activity

Daunat is a subsidiary of Brittany-based Norac Group. The company is a leading producer and distributor of prepackaged sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other snack-food products, which it sells to major retailers as well as to the out-of-home catering trade (highway and other service stations, and train station outlets).

The project at a glance

Daunat opted for the Reflex WMS warehouse management system to manage its five logistics sites, replacing an outdated application with no further update or upgrade support. At its warehouses, the company—a leading supplier of prepackaged snack-food products in France—handles chilled products as well as ambient products that are suitable for storage in chilled conditions, guaranteeing delivery next day before noon. Since rolling out Reflex WMS, Daunat has achieved productivity gains and streamlined its order-picking processes.

Hardis Group has solid track record in the chilled logistics segment. The application covers all our functional requirements, the roadmap offers some interesting prospects for our business, and we were impressed by the expertise and dedication of the project team.

Context and objectives

Daunat is a subsidiary of Brittany-based Norac Group. The company is a leading producer and distributor of prepackaged sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other snack-food products, which it sells to major retailers as well as to the out-of-home catering trade (highway and other service stations, and train station outlets). In its out-of-home catering business, Daunat also operates a trading activity: buying, receiving, storing, and delivering chilled products manufactured by other brands (such as beverages and yogurt drinks).

Daunat operates five production plants in France. Each has its own distribution warehouse, where orders are picked for hypermarkets and supermarkets. One of these warehouses is unusual in that it also handles logistics operations for the firm’s out-of-home catering business: the site receives and stores products manufactured at all five Daunat plants (inter-site flows), as well products for its trading business, which are then picked and shipped to service stations and train station outlets. All five sites handle chilled products as well as ambient products that are suitable for storage in chilled conditions, guaranteeing delivery next day before noon.

Solution

Daunat opted to replace its outdated warehouse management system with Reflex WMS. Its decision was guided by Hardis Group’s solid track record in the chilled logistics segment, the fact that the application covered all of its functional requirements, Reflex’s intuitive design, and the guarantees the company received around the hosting of the application.

Daunat decided to start with its most complex warehouse, which handles logistics operations for its out-of-home catering business. Following a successful initial implementation at this site in 2022, the new warehouse management system is gradually being deployed at the company’s four other platforms, with a target completion date of early 2024

Benefits

  • Significant productivity boost
  • Elimination of all paper-based processes
  • Streamlined order-picking processes
  • Rapid user buy-in for the new application
  • Short learning curve, allowing Daunat to quickly onboard temporary staff to cope with summer workload peaks
